The ketogenic diet is a dietary regimen in which a drastic reduction of carbohydrates is implemented, in favor of proteins and fats. This operation induces in the body the formation of acid substances called Keto Bliss ketone bodies, such as beta-hydroxybutyrate, acetacetic acid and acetone. The production of ketone bodies occurs physiologically under conditions, for example, of fasting.
In fact, cells normally need glucose for their regular functions, but, if the supply of the latter is reduced to excessively low levels, they will begin to activate compensation mechanisms, with reduction of insulin and activation of catabolic processes.

Therefore, the cells, particularly the nerve cells, will use these substances as a primary source of energy.
